Cookware. Built to Last.

Family-made since 1949.

Belgium, 1949

Our Story

The story of Alva begins in the quiet years after the war.Belgium was rebuilding. Materials were scarce. Nothing was taken for granted. Albert Vandaele looked at discarded aluminum left behind by the war and saw something else entirely — not scrap, but possibility. With his hands, simple tools, and an unwavering sense of purpose, he began shaping pots and pans meant for everyday cooking. Not objects of luxury. Objects of trust. Cookware that could withstand time, heat, and daily life. From the start, there were no shortcuts. If a piece wasn’t right, it didn’t leave the workshop. It was melted down and made again. Quality was not negotiable — it was a matter of pride. That way of working became Alva.

A Family Way of Thinking

Alva has never been about quick success or passing trends. It has always been about responsibility.Being a family business means thinking beyond the present moment. It means asking not what sells fastest, but what lasts longest. What earns a place in someone’s kitchen. What becomes part of daily rituals, shared meals, and quiet moments at the stove. In 1980, Filip Delmulle stepped into the role of CEO. Through his wife, Véronique Vandaele — Albert’s daughter — the founder’s values remained deeply woven into the company’s direction.Generations changed. The mindset did not.

The Founder

Made to Be Used

Alva cookware was never meant to be admired from a shelf. It was made to be lifted, heated, seasoned, and worn in. To carry the marks of time. To improve with use. Sustainability wasn’t a philosophy — it was simply how things were done. Reuse what you have. Waste nothing. Make fewer things, but make them better.Less replacement. More cooking. Fewer compromises.

Today

Carrying the Flame Forward

In 2022, Albert Vandaele’s grandson, Michel Delmulle, took on responsibility for Alva’s U.S. distribution. They didn’t set out to change the story — only to continue it. To bring the same thoughtful cookware, built on decades of care and conviction, into new kitchens and new hands.Because when something is made with intention, it doesn’t belong to one generation alone. It belongs to all the ones that follow.
