Our Safety Standards Tested by Independent Labs

Alva Cookware

Non-toxic is easy to claim and hard to prove. At Alva, our coated ranges are tested by an independent third-party laboratory - here is exactly what that means.

What we test for

  • PFAS and PFOA - the forever chemicals found in conventional nonstick.
  • PTFE - the classic nonstick polymer.
  • Lead and cadmium - heavy metals that can hide in glazes and coatings. Documented for our Neat line against U.S. FDA food-contact limits; reports for other lines are available on request.

How we test

We use an independent third-party lab - TÜV Rheinland - not in-house claims, so the results stand on their own. The 638-substance PFAS panel covers our coated nonstick ranges, with every substance below the laboratory reporting limit. Our stainless, cast iron, and carbon steel ranges have no nonstick coating - so no PFAS or PTFE by design.

See the actual reports

We publish the real lab reports - report numbers, test dates, and downloadable PDFs for each line - on our Testing & Materials Transparency page. That is the proof behind every claim on this page.

Why it matters

It is the difference between marketing and proof. The same goes for provenance - you can read who actually makes Alva cookware and where each line is produced. New to this? Start with how to spot truly non-toxic cookware - our checklist. For the background on the chemicals themselves, read why PFAS-free matters; for specific materials, see are ceramic pans safe and is stainless steel safe. You can also see how Alva scored in independent testing.
