Everything You Need to Know

Questions before you cook?

Short, honest answers to the questions that decide whether this is the right piece for your kitchen.

What is a 4 qt sauté pan best used for?

A 4 qt sauté pan is ideal for one-pan dinners, sautéed vegetables, chicken, pasta dishes, sauces, braising, simmering, and family-style meals.

Is a sauté pan different from a frying pan?

Yes. A sauté pan typically has deeper, straighter sides and more capacity than a frying pan, making it better for sauces, simmering, braising, and larger meals.

Is 4 qt a good size for everyday cooking?

Yes. A 4 qt sauté pan is a very versatile size because it is large enough for one-pan dinners and family-style meals, but still manageable for everyday cooking.

Can I use metal utensils?

Yes, without restriction. Stainless steel has no coating to protect — metal spatulas, tongs, whisks, and spoons are all fine.

How do I get rid of rainbow discoloration?

The blue and gold rainbow tint that sometimes appears on stainless steel is caused by heat oxidation — completely normal and purely cosmetic. It doesn't affect cooking performance. To remove it, apply a small amount of Bar Keepers Friend (or a paste of baking soda and water) with a soft cloth and scrub gently in the direction of the grain.
